WEST AUSTIN is located on the west side of the Colorado River which is referred to as Lake Austin. The area is heavily treed with steep hills and winding two lane roads. Some of the most beautiful views in Austin are from this area. Areas 8E & 8W are in the Eanes School District while area W is in the Austin Independent School District. SOUTH CENTRAL AUSTIN located south of the Colorado River which is referred to as Lady Bird Lake. Hike and bike trails run along both sides of Lady Bird Lake and lead to Zilker Park and the wonderful refreshing Barton Springs. The Long Center for Performing Arts, Parmer Auditoris and Auditorium Shores are located along this stretch of Lady Bird Lake, The area just sound of the river one mile from downtown is refered to by locals as the SoCo area and is home to the famous Contiental Club This area has unique, "funky" old shops restaurants and one block of streamline trailers that servve food to go.
